More new lessons coming in January 2023 for our French students !
This new series is designed for intermediate-level students, but the foundations have already been prepared by those who followed the Beginner level. Gounod composed a beautiful melody — a flowing line written over arpeggios — and these lessons will guide you step by step through it. Regarding the creation of the famous Ave Maria, Gounod simply added a vocal melody on top of the original arpeggios from Bach’s score. Today, Gounod’s Ave Maria has been transcribed for almost every instrument. Gounod also composed other Ave Maria pieces, including one based on another Bach prelude, BWV 999.
